Yes, Alberta does have a booming oil patch and vast expanses of prairie farmland. As a driver you're probably not coming here for those things. Get in line with the hordes of RVs and tour buses (okay, they're not that bad at all) and enjoy the spectacular Canadian Rockies.

Best of all, so much of these mountains are accessible by decent roads.
